Sometimes owning a dog can feel like a never ending clean up operation. From mopping up paw prints and laundering dog beds, to vacuuming pet hair and banishing pet odor, being a dog owner comes with a lot of extras to add to your cleaning routine.
If you have better things to do than run after your dog with a mop (and let’s face it who doesn’t?) then read on for our tips for making cleaning up after your dog speedy.
Rubber Gloves
It’s time to grab yourself an extra pair of rubber gloves, but you won’t be washing the dishes with them. These gloves are for your furniture! Rubber gloves are great at grabbing pet hair from soft furnishings. Just put them on and rub your hands over your couches, throw pillows and curtains and they’ll be dog hair free in a flash!
Squeegee
A squeegee is your secret weapon for removing dog hair from carpets and rugs where your vacuum cleaner can’t reach. It’s especially handy for removing dog hair from the stairs as it makes the job quick and easy.
Odor Absorbers
If you’re sick of spraying room freshener everywhere in a bid to cover up pet smells then opt for an odor absorber or two instead. They literally suck up bad smells without you having to lift a finger, making them a must have for homes with dogs in them.
Fabric Refresher
Sometimes it can feel as though washing the dog’s bedding and blankets never ends. Fill in the time between doggy laundry days with a pet safe fabric refresher. It will make that newly washed scent last longer, saving you both time and money.
Microfiber Mitt
Stop messes from occurring before they happen. If your dog comes back from a walk plastered in dirt then keep a microfiber mitt by the door or in the car, and run it over them before they get in the house. It’ll remove most if not all of the dirt, and stop it from ending up on your floors, walls and furniture.
Fabric Softener Sheets
Fabric softener sheets have anti-static properties which make them incredibly useful at deterring pet hair from accumulating on top of the baseboards in your home. Simply run a sheet along the tops of the baseboards and they will stay free from dust and pet hair for much longer.
